Ben comes to Hulings and Associates with over 25 years of experience in leadership. He understands how to succeed. He has reached the pinnacle of success as an athlete, teacher, coach, and administrator. After winning several athletic championships as a player and coach, Ben built the school that he was an administrator at for 23+ years from the bottom up...guiding his staff to help their school become a top-performing school in the State of Michigan.

The foundations of Ben’s success are listening, collaboration, preparation, relationship-building, and finding win-win solutions when facilitating conflict. He specializes in organizational culture, team-building, identifying and evaluating professional talent, and mentoring teachers and school administrators. He believes the bedrock of leading people is trust. Ben possesses the skills to help professional and educational leaders…along with their teams/faculty… who are struggling to turn the corner toward improvement. Whether the issues are technical or cultural, he can help identify barriers and guide planning to expedite success.

Ben is currently working with several ISD & RESA organizations, nonprofits, individual leaders, and school administrators. He is ready to help you become a stronger leader and assist organizations navigate complex issues.

Ben received his B.A. and M.A. from Grand Valley State University in Education and Educational Leadership. He was an educator and administrator in the parochial and public school systems for over 30 years. He has been on the Board of Directors of MEMSPA and has volunteered for United Way and other non-profit organizations in his community.

When Ben is not helping others, he and his wife Sarah love traveling, football, and being grandparents. He also enjoys cooking, fishing, and golfing. Ben and Sarah have a passion for the mental health needs of others and have worked to introduce mental health education and services into schools: a topic they are willing to explore and develop with school districts and business leaders.
